As the best man for a wedding, you are given certain issues to deal with. In this case, my good friends Chris & Laura had booked exactly what they wanted, S-Class Mercedes limos.
They were called a few months ago saying that the car they had booked had been converted into a stretch which means that they could fit in Laura's mother who has to get around in a wheelchair.
So the plans for the wedding day centered around being able to transport all the people to the right places at the right times using the two cars.
On the Monday before the wedding, they received a call from the limo company,
Taylor Made Chauffeurs, asking for final payment. After providing her credit card details, she was told that they would not be supplying what was promised, a stretch and a sedan because they had a booking for the stretch.
After expressing their unhappiness with this situation, Mark, the guy from
Taylor Made Chauffeurs, got angry at both Chris and Laura and swore at them.
Firstly, this is not the way you treat a customer, secondly you don't want someone who as verbally abused you involved in your wedding, especially at such late notice.
As a result of this, Chris & Laura asked me to speak to Mark and try and reason with him. I rang and was very calm, quiet but firm. In response he abused me, swore and then hung up on me.
A few minutes later, Chris' phone rang. Recognising the caller ID as Mark from
Taylor Made Chauffeurs, he handed the phone to me and I answered it. "Hello this is David, are you going to swear at me and then hang up again?".
Mark obviously didn't like that much because he answered my question by swearing at me and hanging up.
The question is, do people
really think that they can treat customers like this and retain them? Do they think that an experience like this is not going to result in people telling all their friends
not to use
Taylor Made Chauffeurs?
My next step was to organise alternate transport. I've used Adelaide Impressions in the past and been very impressed, as has my parents.
Tanya was very helpful and said she had people "every other week" calling because of
Taylor Made Chauffeurs.
